Why does the program Microsoft Visual C++ show up on my taskbar sporadically?

I burned a CD today from iTunes, and afterward, I noticed my cursor was a little blue/green hourglass that wouldn't go away, and the application "Microsoft Visual C++" appears to be active, as it now appears on my taskbar. I have never used that program and don't even know what it is. The only way it seems to go away is if I restart. This has happened a few times before as well. Seems like it might be when I run iTunes? Any ideas?

Visual C++ is a programming environment for creating Microsoft Windows–based and Microsoft .NET–based applications. It also enables developers to build Web applications and smart-client Windows-based applications.

I recently helped a friend clean up an old laptop. He had the same thing with C++ appearing on his taskbar. He was running XP Home. And the computer had a lot of other issues with damaged or missing system files. So we ran a System File Check and that got rid of the C++ problem. It might work for you but you'll need your original install CD.

Click start %26gt; run %26gt; type in "sfc /scannow" %26gt; OK (no quotes and notice the space between sfc and /scannow.) If any damaged or missing system files are located, you'll be prompted to insert the install disk. Files will then be repaired or replaced as needed. The scan could take over an hour depending on what it finds.
